I agree that Utopia has created real problems for us.And the future that they have visioned was a reality more than a hype. This reality has caused real problems for us because GM wanted to create more cars and also superhighways which will result into global warming. The fair that they had back then showing the future was a great thing to see but for it to come real can be a problem. Global warming is caused by gases that are let go by the cars and also by earth. The gas that is given off by cars is called carbon dioxide which is a harmful gas to the ozone.
American suburbia is also a problem to earth to because of the mass amounts of energy these individual houses give off. With so many of these types of places in America and plus cars we might as well end earth now.

Assignment # 9

The course is over and i have gained a lot from this course. My eyes have been opened up to things that I haven't realized and did realize but have more information about certain topics. The most exciting part of this course was when we reached the topic of humanoids and artificial intelligence. I also got more grounded that i am a scientific person more than a humanist. Another topic that has shocked me in the beginning was futarama. The way how people were picturing the future with cars, highways, big lands and all of those things were like story telling the future. Futurama was a great idea but yet was a time bomb to our world. Science in this day and age can make us reach places that were never reached before. The blogging for this class has also helped me out a lot to open up my imagination and express how i view things.
In conclusion this class has enlightened me more about technology more than anything. It has shown me that over the years technology has gotten better and that there will be consequences that are bad and good for human beings.

assignment # 8

I feel as though science should only be used for good and not creating life. Science should only be used to help cure or help heal someone but not to create someone. There has to be boundaries that scientist have to stop at to even protect them selves and us. For example Victor creating Frankenstein was a horrible mistake because then Victor realized that it was a horrible idea to create another human being. Scientist get carried away when they are dealing with science so in order to regulate this there has to be limits. Another example that i can say this relates to is Einstein creating the formula that was used to create an atomic bomb. Where Einstein had left it at was where it should have stopped but it was then carried on to be used as a weapon. Scientist have a huge responsibility on there shoulder but have to know when it is time to stop playing God but start to play doctor. LOL

Assignment #7

The scientist that I would be talking about is Albert Einstein. Albert Einstein has unlocked the basic formula of life that we are still amazed at called E is MC2.Einstein is one of the people that you can call a scientist. Einstein has had a burning desire to learn and explore things that was around him. He had a social life but not a life that can be considered normal. The results of Einstein creating this formula is that a bomb that can destroy is not what was meant for the formula. This is a prime example of how there is hardly control of new discoveries in science which can be used for good and evil.Einstein's Dream, by Alan Lightman shines more light on this subject of Einstein's Goals in science.

Assignment #6

The topic im going to write about for my research paper is science and technology: Promise and peril. I am going to be looking at what future we have with robots and the negative outcomes that can take place.
One of the resources that i am going to use is Ray Kurzweil article, "Promise and Peril". This article will help me explain the future we can have wit technology.

The next source that I will be using is Robot Be Good by Micheal Anderson. I did not find this source on my own but i got help from a class mates blog to help me develop my paper. This will help me show the promise of robots in the future working with humans.

A next resource that i will be using is The coming robot revolution expectations and fears about emerging intelligent, humanlike machine by Bar-Cohen, Yoseph. This book explains in depth the build up of robots to be human like and it brings up the question and explains are robots going to be with us or turn against us?

Assignment #4

In TV and in real life robots are depicted to be humans friends and foes.In real life robots help us everyday in factories at our homes and many other places.With out these robots human civilization would not be where it is today.

In TV the most shocking movie that should me how robots can be foes to human kind was I Robot. In this movie robots were made to assist humans, but that surely had a twist to it. Robots in the movie started breaking the robot laws that the humans programmed in them. The three laws were: 1.A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2.A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3.A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. Humans were now being attacked by robots.

I think that robots are still growing and will reach close to human beings in actions but not in thinking with emotions. Many scientist try to make robots mock our expressions but will never be able to have those emotions like sadness, happiness and etc. As Gelernter said robots will never have a conscious mind and emotions. Humans try to get robots to be human like but don't realize that we are selves are evil but want robots to be like us.

Assignment #3

The most interesting topic that i would like to write about is topic #2. The reason why I would like to write on this topic is because science and technology have been a great interest to me. I have been looking at science and technology for a while now and found many errors that these two time bombs can cause in the future.There are also great things that science and technology can do for us but does it out weigh the bad.
